As an editor, I read - a lot. And when I read finished books, I analyze why I do or don't like them and what I wish they did differently - a lot. So who better to beta-read your novel than someone who makes it their business to know what makes a compelling story?
Beta-reading is a service that gives feedback from a reader's perspective and tests how the manuscript might affect your target audience. It's NOT considered editing because beta-reading focuses purely on reactions and doesn't offer solutions.
Writers usually seek beta-reads from a diverse pool of people before they self-publish or start pitching to agents. While getting feedback from others essential, someone who works with books professionally will have a different - and valuable - perspective.
Standard Beta-Read
What's Included
My standard beta-read comes with these deliverables:
- A 1-3 page cover letter that focuses on reader reactions
- 1 hour of email support after everything is delivered
What It Costs
$1.50 per 1,000 words
Minimum cost: $75
An extra fee will apply for expedited service.
How Long It Takes
Turnaround time is typically 1 to 2 weeks after placement in my schedule, dependent upon receipt of the contract and full manuscript in Word (.doc) format, and completion of the payment schedule.
Premium Beta-Read
What's Included
